0 Stars in my opinion. Not sure about other Austin Automotive Specialists locations, but this one is full of scammers. The regional manager goes by the name of “Clay” and he tried scamming us as well. My girlfriend brought in her vehicle to get it checked out after a minor accident and they stated we needed 3 new parts and that the labor and installation was around 2.5K, they informed me that an alignment could not been done unless i bought new parts and installed them, my gut was telling me to take it to the dealer. Once the dealer checked it out, I was informed that there were no damages and all the car needed was an alignment. I warn you guys to never do business with this location, they made up that my vehicle needed unnecessary work and parts in order for them to make almost 3k off of me and my girlfriend. They will try to act friendly and family like, but in reality they are trying to take your hard earned money. I added an image of the form they gave me stating the parts and labor i “needed” to get, and an image of the dealer fixing the problem with a simple alignment.

Hi Eric. We are sorry you feel this way. We did our best to be as transparent as possible, even walking out to the vehicle with your girlfriend to discuss and physically show the damage we found. In retrospect, we should have documented with photos as well, that's on us. Our findings matched those of two other shops as well. We've been in business a long time and the practices you suggest would have doomed us a long time ago. We would like to clear things up with you and have reached out a few times but haven't been able to connect. Please call us back when you can. Thank you.

Well, I don't have much to say about this place. I went there for a quote of my BMW X3's coolant leak. I ended up getting a $3856 quote to fix it. Even after the discount it was close to $3300. Pure scam. I went there since they have good reviews on Google. I thought dealer usually charges more. This places ended up quoted me more than doubled the dealer's price. I was shocked. Stay away from this shop. That would be my advice based on my personal experience. I ended up paying the car checking fee which was $88. Fast ran away from this shop. Good luck.

I ended up paying $1184 to the BMW dealer to get my leaking problem fixed, after all these comparing I am pleased with the job dealer did. Everything back to normal. Guess you really need to pay some extra bucks to find out the right thing to do. knowledge fee.

Hi Binze. We appreciate the feedback and are sorry you felt like we were being anything but honest and transparent as that is NEVER our intention. We believe the work you needed was warranted to fix the entire problem, not just part of it. We even showed you on your car what we were finding. Sorry if we weren't clear with why we felt the work was necessary. Thanks for taking the time to speak with us so we could explain our side of things. Thanks again for the feedback and again, our apologies.

My work truck was here from late Thursday, the 24th, until Tuesday morning, the 29th. My only complaint with this shop is that my vehicle was left outside in the parking lot, with the window down and the key in the ignition, for multiple days. I checked on my vehicle late Monday evening because rain was in the forecast for Monday night and Tuesday morning. To my surprise, the window was still down with the key in the ignition. The guy who hangs up the keys must have called out sick again. I ended up jump-starting my own vehicle and rolling up the window. I repaired my vehicle in their parking lot on Tuesday morning before driving home. I couldn't help but notice that there was plenty of space in their garage bay to keep my vehicle inside. This shows massive negligence and a lack of respect for my property, which is why I'm leaving a one-star review. The vehicle could have been pushed into the bay—I know because I pushed it myself before getting it towed to the shop. If I owe anything for the 5.5-day stay, let me know, and we can deduct it from the cost of the new battery I just bought, which was showing a bad cell. Battery purchased on 8/24. I would highly recommend this shop if you need your muffler bearings adjusted or your seat belt timing fine-tuned. **Edit** Turns out my alternator failed, not a battery issue. It's so strange how my initial shift-linkage problem caused my alternator to fail.

Brought my 07 silverado in, they told me it needed a steering pump, new rack and pinion, and all new hoses and wanted $3500. I brought the truck home and looked at it myself, realized that there was a steering fluid leak coming from the steering fluid cooler. So I bought a new steering fluid cooler on rock auto for $65 and put it in myself in less than 1 hour. Everything is working fine. Would not recommend this place. In response to the shop's reply below-it wasn't that I think you were trying to oversell me, it's that you guys completely missed the actual problem, which was less than 3% of the cost of what you quoted me. As soon as I popped to the hood I could see that the leak was coming from the front area where the fluid cooler is. Had you guys done the $3500 repair that you quoted me, it would not have even fixed the issue. I replaced the fluid cooler for $65 and an hour of my time and there is no more leak at all and I've already driven the truck halfway across the country with no problems.

HI Ben. Sorry your experience didn't match your expectations, we should have done better in our communication with you, including sharing pictures of what we found. We can see without our normal level of transparency through the use of photos you could have interpreted our findings as trying to oversell, which is never our intent. We apologize and hope you give us a chance to redeem ourselves. Thanks for the feedback as well as it is a great reminder of us at the shop of how to do things better. Thanks again.

These guys did an excellent job on my Truck. I've had a power steering leak for years at this point. Had the truck into multiple different shops and Austin's Automotive was the first shop correctly identify the problem and they had it fixed same day.

That's great to hear Randall! We know how frustrating it can be to have an issue that can't be identified or fixed. Glad we could help

My experience with Austin Automotive was professional and knowledgeable. Although the outcome was not what I hoped for. Now I know it was time to replace the car. They were precise and kind. I highly recommend.

Thanks Cynthia. While it may not have been the best news, having you invest money into the vehicle at this stage just didn't seem worth it to us. We'd rather you save the money knowing you were just going to have more problems come up very soon. Thanks for the review!
