I love this place. They always give honest recommendations/repair offers, they stand by their work, and they have decent prices. Unless you need special custom work, I recommend only going here.

Thank you Xavier. We appreciate your review.

These folks are crooks, plain and simple. I took my vehicle in for a state inspection, no issues no check engine light. They failed me because according to them it had a leak in the power steering since it was "bone dry". They even had a picture of what they said was the reservoir. Also said that I needed a gas cap. Immediately tried to sell me a $140 service. I knew they were lying. Left there and took my vehicle down the street to another shop, didnt say a word about the failed inspection . Asked them to check out a few of the things I was told were bad. Not a single thing was legit. Passed with no issues. Steer clear of this shop, they're not honest. ----Just to clarify, no one is complaining about procedures in a state inspection. The fact is there was no power steering leak and the machine at the next state inspection facility deemed the gas cap good. What is in question is the honesty of the staff in trying to provide or sell services that were not needed. I stand by my review and those will be the last $18 dollars I will ever spend in your place of business.

A. W. I am sorry you are unhappy with the Inspection. We must by law inspect vehicles by a checklist that was designed by the State. A power steering fluid leak is a safety item and leaks that could cause steering failure does not pass inspection. a gas cap test requires a gas cap tester (built into the inspection machine) and a mere visual inspection is inadequate to determine weather it will pass or not. State required vehicle inspections while inconvenient are required for safety and environmental reasons. No business wishes to upset anyone over a $18 inspection.

First of all I want to say they were nice enough to allow me to wait inside for the tow truck. That aside, they wouldn’t look at the vehicle without money down. They wanted 140$ I think for diagnostic testing. We told them what was wrong with the vehicle. (What is was doing) but yet they were more concerned with the brakes ect. They told us our brakes on the back were placed backwards. Well this was put on by another shop. So it would be covered under warranty. They said for 600 more dollars they would fix all the things wrong including a new battery which they said was not charging and not giving a reading on the tester. So we paid them the 140$ for the test sent it over in tow to the other shop for the rear brakes. The new shop laughed and said you can’t really put brakes on backwards but we will check them. I was able to tell them the first shop said the sensor was bad. He said that would be 120$ to replace that. My husband said the other shop also said the serpentine belt was worn so they replaced it for us too. The new shop said the battery was completely fine. And the brakes were on correctly. He said we need front brakes which we knew already. But wow! It went from 600$ to 300$ quick! I wouldn’t trust Austin automotive specialist to fix anything. They tried to rip us off. Thank god I was smart enough to move my vehicle.

I am sorry you were not happy with your visit. You gave us the symptom but not the diagnosis. A pin point testing of the circuit needed to be performed to confirm what actual parts were needed. Your Brakes are on wrong! the primary and secondary shoes are installed incorrectly. the primary shoes are the front shoe and the secondary shoe is the rear. These are crossed which causes improper and premature wear. The shop who told you otherwise is in need of basic brake repair training. We will be more than happy to show you if you wish to get the correct information. As far as the battery goes the vehicle was cranked over until the battery went dead and there was the possibility it would not recharge due to the age. and the recommendation was preventive.

Did my alignment here. Gave me this edgy feeling like being at a used car lot though & called my vehicle a Frankenstein before looking at it when I first walked in. It's an 80's Toyota 4x4 so yeah, not your typical Dodge Dart oil change I get it. He did not offer me any additional services which is good imo but I was also getting an alignment in the last hour of the day so all the time we had needed to go towards that. I offered to let them keep it overnight. The older tech seemed well versed & explained in great detail the nuances of the job. 4 Stars because not impressed enough to try them again for my next needs but slid me in the last hour of the work day & tech's knowledge was on point I could tell. Almost minused another star just because they took another job in at like 4:55 when I was checking out & not only did he check her in before getting me out, those poor guys in the shop looked like they had a long day & it was time to go! These are all just my opinions. Comment from Stephen M. of Austin's Automotive Specialistss Business Manager 7/26/2019Thank you Jeremy for the review. I jumped the gun on the "Frankenstein"comment before we looked at the vehicle, since we see similar older Toyota trucks that look like yours. It was pretty cool how much of the vehicle was original and the amount of work you did on the vehicle yourself. Matt, the technician that worked on your vehicle, appreciated the shout out in the review. Matt ishoping you got those rear brakes re-adjusted, since he had such a difficult time trying to roll the vehicle back and forth during the alignment. He also wanted you to know that he isn't paid hourly, so he needs to work on as many vehicles as he can to get paid. Our ownership also requires us to take vehicles in right up until we close at 5:30pm. If it had been my choice, your Toyota truck would have been our final vehicle of the day on Saturday and I would have told the techs to go home early. I truly care about my fellow employees and want to take care of them always. My employees are like my second family due to the amount of time we spend with each other on a daily basis.
