I should have read all the reviews before walking in the shop. Maybe it's a coincidence that my evaporator core got holes when they were servicing my car. Maybe it's also a coincidence that their mechanic forgot to inspect my whole car when they check my car in the beginning. Maybe that's how they treat young female customer. Here is the whole story. The manager told me that they didn't find any leakage in my ac system, and by law they need to refill freon and add dye to it. At that point I should walk away instead of arguing with the manager why they didn't find the sign of leakage. I added freon and dye two weeks ago in Dallas, and I drove to Austin last weekend, if there are any leakage, they should see the sign. Here is my mistake, wrongly hoping that by refilling the freon, ac could run at least a week or two, and I even made another appointment on 9/2 to recheck the leakage. The reality is I wasted $190+ and a whole morning. Moreover, they handed me the car with additional hissing sound from the ac, no cool air from ac of course. And the manager asks for another $900+ to replace the evaporator. I am not sure if the manager was hiding something from me or whatever, but the second time I showed up in the shop and asked how long it takes them to recheck, the manager told me 5 hours. I thought he was joking since a check shouldn't take that long unless I need to wait for the mechanics. Now I recall it, I feel he may be talking about the fixing time, but at that point, he hasn't got my key. Did he know the issue from the first check? When I questioned if they really refilled the freon, the manager said he could redo the service for me for free if I am willing to make appointment to have the evaporator changed. He said he is doing this favor to me to just approve to me that my ac system is functioning, the only issue is the leakage, and it's located in the evaporator. I left without any additional service, and I should have left earlier before getting any service done.
I'm sorry you were unhappy Ms. Ding. The service that was provided was not a repair, it states that clearly on your receipt. This was to get the system up and running to find what you and we both knew. There was a leak that needed to be located. The dye if any added by the shop in Dallas was not visible. Leaks get worse not better so of course the time between fills gets shorter. As far as the evacuation and recharge, charge it was appropriate for the time and materials used. This service will need to be performed again after repairs and when we do the needed repair that service is performed free the second time so you do not pay for the same service twice with us. Again I am sorry for any misunderstanding and lack of clarity on my Managers part. If you contact him again I am sure he can work something more reasonable out.
