Went in to get an inspection, didnt have to wait for them to start. However waiting for the inspection took twice as long as any other place I've been to. The service was great... until you question them... I went in for a simple inspection and the car failed. Which is fine if you could pull the book out and show me exactly what the law says and why it's being given a fail. They did not show me the book, and told me a tech would be out to show me why. Upon the tech showing me the car... he refused to show me the book which states a specific amount of inches that is acceptable. He refused to measure it and denied what I said existed bit also again refused to show the book. Three times I asked for exactly what the law stated and they could not tell me or show me. Instead they went by their "feelings." Not only that, but after their authority was questioned they turned into the rudest representatives I have come across. Which is also saying a lot because it's hard to find good, and polite mechanics. While in the car the technician was telling me the brake was to the floor, which was a large exaggeration. He also changed the reason it was failing a few times and was adding reasons as I kept questioning and quoting the law. I was considering using this place for future inspections, and small repairs but after the experience today I wouldn't even reccomend this place to anyone even for something so simple. Edit in response to the owner: Upon initial story again you stated the pedal went too far down... state law says "Upon first application, there is less than 2 inches of pedal reserve as determined by the use of an accurate measurement on the fully applied brake pedal of vehicles equipped with conventional brakes." Sounds to me like that's measured in inches not feet, so please don't sit here and demean me when I know what I was talking about it was you guys who weren't sure. Three times I asked and the book was never shown. You can count this review as the fourth time if you would like. I'm not denying that the car should have failed. I'm saying I heard three different stories while there and nobody would give me a straight answer or show me what the law stated. First the pedal went too far down (which is btw measured in inches not feet). Then it didn't stop in time. Then it had a grinding noise. Also no "scene" was ever made. While I was short, I never once raised my voice unlike your technician when he was in the car with me. I stepped out for a phone call and while yes I rushed out the door and I could admit my body language said I was upset... after all I just spent close to an hour waiting for an inspection of all things when I was serviced quickly...I never once was rude towards you or the technician. Meanwhile the technician tried to make me off to be incompetent and deaf because I couldn't hear the grinding coming from the drivers side (which upon getting it inspected was coming from the passengers side, that noise did exist and I have not once denied that). Your response trying to make me seem like some customer throwing a temper tantrum is laughable considering you still did not address my complaint that you don't get to go off your personal feelings. It's what the law states. Again not denying it should have failed, I'm saying I want proof as to why and a straight story.
Tabitha, your vehicle failed inspection because the brakes were grinding and the car did not stop within the required distance. It is not measured in inches its measured in feet. we do not make the laws and if we don't abide by them and if we pass peoples vehicles when they actually fail we are violating the law. Good and polite it a two way street and making a scene because your car is unsafe and did not pass inspection says a lot. no one refused you anything. we even took you to the marked brake test area where you yourself saw your car failed to stop within the required distance as well as heard the grinding. Your car needs service.
