Felt uncomfortable and insulted while coming in for an appointment. I had a secondary air system problem and needed a diagnosis. Came to the desk and told the guy I had codes that needed diagnosis. He then asked me where I got those parts from and I told them they were online. One part from Amazon that's known to work and the other from eBay which came from a Toyota dealership. A major red flag for me because from the looks of it, it seems like the guy thinks I did a poor job even though the vehicle works as intended and the parts I installed were brand new. So he told me it'll be an extensive diagnosis which I understood is necessary, it'll take all day which I should have seen coming. However he then told me there would be a diagnostic fee. Of course I get charged for someone just looking at the problem that I could have done myself. I then told him I don't have time for it and that I need my vehicle. He later then told me to come back when I'm ready and then told me that if I ever have any problem with the vehicle, just bring it to a shop. I felt insulted knowing that it's blatant disrespect to people who know what they're doing in their garage. If the diagnostic codes were still present in my vehicle despite new parts and cleaning of my secondary air system, I wouldn't need to go to a shop in the first place. Luckily I won't be coming back anyways. Sorry to say! 🤷♂️
I am sorry you felt insulted it was not our Managers intent. When working on a vehicle that others have hand in we are leery ourselves, as part or parts of a diagnosis have been interrupted and it can be difficult and time consuming to accurately diagnose. This can create extra time charges as you cannot "just look at the problem" as you put it. More to the point. Why do you think we would diagnose for free something you could not diagnose yourself only for you the then go and fix it based on our correct diagnosis. We are not a non-profit.
