Brought my car in for routine service and AC diagnostic two weeks back (was quoted $1800 for an AC repair which subsequently I learned is way over priced, but I digress). Tuesday I was stranded when my car broke down. Towed to the nearest shop my insurance would cover and was told I needed a new starter. Then, the mechanic called me and asked if I’d had any work done recently, they’d found a bolt sitting on the starter fuse, which had caused the blow out. I am not knowledgeable about cars, but I don’t see any motivation for the mechanic who replaced my starter to lie about what caused the damage. Spoke to Andy on the phone and in person hoping to get compensation for the repair, a free oil change, refund on my recent service, SOMETHING but he was intent that Austin Automptive was not liable for the damage they most likely caused by being careless. I suppose there’s not way to prove anything, but it’s too bad. No good will. I’m also sorry to report that while I’ve been a return customer for a year, I was personally offended by a comment Andy made when I mentioned having recently traveled in Mexico. He made an unsavory comment to the effect of “valuing his life” and being too afraid to travel in Mexico. Xenophobic, much? Won’t be going back...
I feel we had a good conversation and that you can now see we are not responsible for a bolt that someone in the past had dropped and got stuck between your starter and engine block. We had only performed 2 oil changes and one electrical diagnosis and never removed any bolts or had the need to have placed any bolts in your vehicles engine compartment. I hope you see fit to remove this review and continue letting us service your car for you. Andy and his crew are really great guys.
