Absolutely the best customer service you could hope to find. Skilled, professional staff that can diagnose and fix everything from a shiny Corvette to my well loved minivan. Great, honest staff. I've used them for tire issues, oil changes, and a recent mechanical issue. Highly recommend! Comment from Stephen M. of Austin's Automotive Specialistss Business Manager 2/11/2019Thank you Stacy! Brought my car in for routine service and AC diagnostic two weeks back (was quoted $1800 for an AC repair which subsequently I learned is way over priced, but I digress). Tuesday I was stranded when my car broke down. Towed to the nearest shop my insurance would cover and was told I needed a new starter. Then, the mechanic called me and asked if I’d had any work done recently, they’d found a bolt sitting on the starter fuse, which had caused the blow out. I am not knowledgeable about cars, but I don’t see any motivation for the mechanic who replaced my starter to lie about what caused the damage. Spoke to Andy on the phone and in person hoping to get compensation for the repair, a free oil change, refund on my recent service, SOMETHING but he was intent that Austin Automptive was not liable for the damage they most likely caused by being careless. I suppose there’s not way to prove anything, but it’s too bad. No good will. I’m also sorry to report that while I’ve been a return customer for a year, I was personally offended by a comment Andy made when I mentioned having recently traveled in Mexico. He made an unsavory comment to the effect of “valuing his life” and being too afraid to travel in Mexico. Xenophobic, much? Won’t be going back...

I feel we had a good conversation and that you can now see we are not responsible for a bolt that someone in the past had dropped and got stuck between your starter and engine block. We had only performed 2 oil changes and one electrical diagnosis and never removed any bolts or had the need to have placed any bolts in your vehicles engine compartment. I hope you see fit to remove this review and continue letting us service your car for you. Andy and his crew are really great guys.

Man at the front desk was rude and did not take the time to answer my questions thoughtfully. I was happy they didn’t have the equipment to work on my car.

I am sorry he did not give you his full attention. According to our records your last visit was 3-8-2017.

So a free alignment Check isn't really free? In accordance to your reply, I'm realizing that price determined through your shop must be based on your mood attitude etc. I have a friend that owns a Christian brothers automotive. $2400 Napa rip offs. Because I am female I am discriminated against by your shop. I am absolutely insulted by the continuance to lie, I will drive my car up there if I have to, since u claim all these other things were wrong with it, I will prove to you otherwise. .I have worked on cars for the last 22 years of my life, I have plenty enough experience to know when I'm being bullshited. Your response will be reported. I also have the receipt from orielys directly to prove that your pricing is over charging by $300 +. . My overall cost to have my care fixed, $102. Plus the $175 to tow is back to San Antonio. That is MUCH CHEAPER THAN YOUR SUPPOSED BARE MINIMUM.

Hello Amber, making a second Google account to post a second review? not cool. Our Shop Manager would be more than happy for you to bring your car in for us to look at. Bent strut, bent tie rods and damaged lower control arm all fixed and realigned for $104. Please please bring your car in.

DO NOT GO HERE TO HAVE YOUR CAR FIXED!! If I could put zero stars I would. I am from san antonio and I got stranded in austin, i hit a curb during the sleet storm. I stopped here to have them assess the damages. The GUY told me it would cost $2400 to have my car fixed. I rented a uhual, towed it back to San Antonio cost $175.00. Took it to my friends car shop in which car only had a bent strut. Cost $200 to fix. Car drives perfectly. . This is not an honest shop in my opinion. Do not waste your time or your hard earned money.

The following accurate account of your visit. This vehicle came in limping because the car hit a curb and brought the vehicle in the late afternoon. We explained we would provide a free alignment check and assess the damage. The vehicle was a 2006 model. Our Technician inspected the vehicle and found the passenger outer tie rod bent, the rack inner tie rod bent, the lower control arm bent, and the passenger side strut (bent), as well as an alignment afterwards - we recommended replacement of both struts as they are done in pairs. The customer was even brought out into the shop and showed her the damage. The customer agreed with our assessment that those items needed replacement (in their own words admitted the car needed a lot of suspension work even before hitting the curb) - the total out the door would have been $2,188.06. When asked what the bare minimum would be to get the vehicle back on the road so they could get back to San Antonio and we told them at least the passenger strut and alignment which would have been out the door at $471.47. The strut would be coming from O'rielly's and we could have had them on the road the next day. The customer declined service and said they would limp it back to San Antonio. At the end, we were asked what was owed, and was informed that it was a free alignment check and owed nothing. They was very thankful we didn't charge a checkout and left with the car.

1 stars for job done properly. Have been there twice and these guys are ready to rip you off. Any mechanic who is trying to do over-repair or recommending unnecessary repair is an absolute no no for me. 1. Rates are higher than market (when they give me quote, seems higher but I had to get car fixed). Crossed check their rates against Repairpal and certainly could have save $150. 2. On 2nd occasion, trying to charge me $130 for cabin and oil filter (both were replaced 2 months ago only). Could not explain why oil filter need to be changed. I asked are they trying to replace oil? Answer was we recommend to change both, but will not do if you do not want. 3. Charged $120 for multi-point check which I think was not needed. My car was not starting so I asked why they did inspection and what they did, reply was we checked battery to make sure it is not dead. Will not recommend these guys to anyone.

We find no record of you in our system since January of 2019. 3 plus years ago. Please contact our Shop Manager at the Lakeway location. Although the current Manager at the shop was not with us back then, maybe he can help you figure out just where you went. We do not charge for our multi-point inspections are free and performed on every car. Oil filters are changed with every oil change. Cabin air filters and engine air filters are changed out based on a maintenance schedule or sooner if needed. We never change a filter unless pre approved by the vehicle owner.

Clay and his team are simply amazing! My 71 year-old mother took her car to Christian Brothers last week and came out with a $621 quote for brakes. Today we brought it here for a 2nd opinion at someone's referral and came away so grateful. Brakes did not need any work and they cleaned out the wiper fluid lines at no charge for her. It's refreshing to find honest people with integrity who care about helping customers over making a dishonest buck. Our entire family will bring our business here from now on. Thanks so much for your kindness!

Thank you for taking the time to review us. If it's not broke don't fix it.
